SurveyWhat were your duties at ATVN? :
Infamous two-days a week Executive Producer, Producer, News Anchor, Reporter, Web Producer, Multimedia Journalist (and W/S/E!), Graphics, Audio, Assignment Desk
What is your advice to aspiring journalists?:
Intern, intern, intern! The best way to figure out what you want to do and how to do it is to get yourself into a real newsroom and talk to people. See how they did it, then start carving your own path.
What should graduates keep in mind when negotiating their first job?:
You can't get what you don't ask for! Companies know that you're walking into your first job, so they will try to shortsell you. Even if they are, politeness and a well-finessed speech can go a long way -- even if you're asking for a lot. You'll kick yourself later for not trying, rather than always knowing the answer was no.
