In Fall 2012, Layne was a producer of the Thursday newscast. As a lead producer, her shows featured the USC Halloween Shooting, Decision 2012, and the arrival of the Shuttle Endeavour to Los Angeles. Additionally, Layne was chosen to be the lead producer of ATVN's Decision 2012 live coverage. On Election Night, my team of 70 students produced four hours of live coverage, which included Skype liveshots, phone interviews, and 7 in-studio correspondents.

Layne has also been a web producer in the newsroom and a telemprompter and camera operator in the studio.

During Summer 2011, she interned at Los Angeles' KNBC-4 with Mekahlo Medina. She researched, wrote and edited "The Trend" segments for three different newscasts.
