On Campus Access
As "USC's first source for news," Annenberg TV News provides relevant content for our viewers - students, professors and staff members alike. This is the most important thing to remember when shaping our newscast and the reason I aspire to be a producer upon graduation.
Having two broadcast mediums (TV and web) allows us to be a leader for campus news. Whatever the report, award, event taking place on campus or latest scandal is, you can count on ATVN to report it. Succeeding in the coverage of such stories makes our jobs as journalists rewarding and worthwhile.
Fortunately we can excel in reporting the news our viewers want to see due to our proximity and range of resources. We have direct access to events on campus and to world-renowned experts in a variety of topics.
An international campus like USC also provides us with access to people from all over the world. If for some reason we do not have a contact available through one of our staff members, we can use Facebook and Twitter to reach out to our audience. Using social media to promote our upcoming and published stories also draws new viewers to our show and our website.
Having this direct access to resources increases the impact of our broadcast. The ability to include video of different elements for so many local stories makes ATVN a vital news source on campus.
