The Name Game

TAGS:

It is so important to learn each and every person’s name on the team, and somehow this has become one of the toughest things for me. I have the worst “name memory” but have been working at making an effort to improve it. Knowing each of my teammate’s names not only adds a familiarity between the person and me, but it also really helps with organization.

The number of times another producer asks me, “Where is ‘X’?”, “Where is ‘Z’?” seems countless. If someone were to show me a picture of the person and ask, “Where is ‘X’/’Z’?” I would be able to answer in a heartbeat. It’s just about putting a name to the face. This name game is essential and I truly believe that if I can master it, my producing days will be much easier.

I think the main step I can take to help myself is to make flash-cards. I know that may sound a bit extreme, but I think this is an important goal to work on and one that I need to have down as soon as possible. Another step I can take is breaking down each of the day’s positions and then memorize from there. There are no “less important” jobs at ATVN, although some may require more demanding shifts, I need to know them all.

IT IS SO IMPORTANT.

The show can’t go on with people missing, I know that. So now it’s my turn to make sure that no one is left behind!
