Live Shot Envy
Live shots are a great way to add flavor to the newscast. In the past couple weeks, my Team Wednesday producers and I have been really focused on making sure that our show is interesting! It’s important to have everything go according to plan and to stay on time, but how much does it matter if the show isn’t enjoyable to watch?
One problem with this week’s newscast was that we didn’t have the means to do a live shot because our Streambox operators were busy. If one had been available though, we had a great story that we could have added a live element to. Alpha Gamma Omega, a fraternity, is having a nearby intersection named in their honor. Not only is it a convenient location it’s a story students and local residents care about. Unfortunately there was just no way to make it work.
To spice things up we put one of our anchors at the Chroma key to do a block about a couple stories involving Facebook. It may not have been a live shot but it was still a good way to break things up and keep the show interesting. Hopefully next week we won’t have the same problem!
