Reporting LIVE from ATVN...
Just think about it. When have you ever told yourself you would rather watch something later than as it was developping? Football is a great example, specifically the Super Bowl. Year after year, millions of viewers tune in to see the crown jewel of American sports, making it the most watched TV show--again--year after year. When you watch something live, you as the viewer are in the moment with what's going on. You are experiencing the action at the same time it is happening, drawing you closer into the show.
The same goes for news. Take car chases for example. Whenever a car chase breaks out, all stations stop and turn to it LIVE. Why? Because you don't know what's going to happen and that's the exciting part. That is what turns viewers on and makes your ratings soar.
And yet again, the same thing goes at ATVN. Having that "in the moment' atmosphere behind your reporter as the little red light comes on signaling you are going LIVE, anything can happen. Your viewer gets an inside look at the sites and sounds of the event, allowing for a deeper connection.
FOMO--fear of missing out--is a real thing. Think about all of the times you've gone on to Twitter or Facebook to see that one of your friends went to a 49ers game over the weekend while you were stuck working. So while you were busy, they got to see the Colin Kaepernick throw for six touch downs. For me, that is MAJOR FOMO. But proves the point, that everything in life is always better live.
