Officer Robert Cottle

TAGS:

The traffic in downtown L.A. on Tuesday morning was beyond bad. Roads were blocked off to prepare for the procession to honor fallen LAPD SWAT officer and Marine Sergeant Major Robert Cottle. Seeing the condition of the traffic, I decided against going to the police administration building to follow the procession. Instead, I went straight to the cathedral for the memorial service. The feed in the cathedral plaza was only audio. I waited there and managed to capture video of the honors ceremony, which was held in the plaza after the memorial service. During the whole time, I was overwhelmed by the large number of officers who were present. I was able to get a video pool feed of the procession and the service from NBC. It was once again emotional to watch as colleagues and family remembered the fallen officer. In a press release issued by the LAPD, Chief Charlie Beck says "he is a fine man and a great example of the best LAPD has to offer. He will be missed.”
