Patience Is A Virtue

TAGS:

Week two of producing live shows got off to a great start, with all of us ready to go by 8am. This week, I was the 1pm/graphics producer, which meant that my morning was much busier than when I was the web/social producer. While I couldn't find too many stories to pitch on Sunday night, I was pleasantly surprised with our options come Monday morning. I immediately zeroed in on the stories I wanted to focus on for the afternoon broadcast and got to work, assigning MJs and checking in with reporters.

It seemed like everything was going according to plan when, about ten minutes before we went on air, Stacy gave me the bad news: none of our videos were working. I took a patience pill and tackled the problem. Thanks to our wonderful news anchor, Kalyn, and our exceptional weather anchor Taylor, the show went on and they made it work in front of the camera! As the day went on, all the producers collaborated wonderfully and we really did a great job helping each other out. I was shocked and very happily surprised to see that we had all the videos in before the show and everything seemed to be on schedule, something I attribute to great teamwork from everyone involved.

While we did have a few mistakes, it was a great improvement from the week before and I can't wait to see how our team continues to work together to put out some great shows! Our communication can only get better by the week and I am excited to work with this talented group of people. While there may be frustrating times, doing my best to exercise patience is the key to success in the media center.
