Teamwork is the Key to Success
After several weeks of producing at ATVN with my fabulous team, Pierce and Ale, I can confirm that there is no other team I would rather work with. I admit, I was a bit skeptical at the start of the semester because I had not met either one of them prior to this. However, as soon as we began producing together, I knew that everything would be alright.
For the first couple of weeks, every Thursday would be a whirlwind of craziness, stress and frustration. Pierce, Ale and I were running around like chickens with our heads cut off. We were simply overwhelmed by everything we had to handle- approving videos, copy editing scripts, assigning stories and getting our graphic requests in. The 6 p.m. deadline only made things more stressful for us. We were by no means professionals at this and quickly realized that.
Thankfully, the three of us also realized how terrible we were at producing. We knew we had to step out of our individual responsibilities to help one another. Just because one of us was the lead producer, it didn't mean that we couldn't check out videos or help come up with an OTS image. With so many people in and out of the newsroom asking for an assignment or for help, and with so many scripts and videos to look over, we just need to do what we can to help one another out to get the newscast on air. Production is not the time to be prideful, but rather it is the time to put in as much as you possibly can. I'm glad that my team members and I recognize that and are willing to do whatever it takes to get it all together.
