That's Creative Style

Coming into this semester, my first priority was to learn the fundamentals of being a producer. How do you build a rundown? How do you put in an ANCG graphic? And, what does a producer really do? Well, now that many of my questions have been answered, it’s time for me to set a new goal and that is to add more creative elements to the show. 

I think creativity is something that can be applied to every position. Whether I’m lead, graphics, social media, or video producer, going beyond the traditional format will enhance the production of the newscast. When you’re still learning how things are done and don’t have a clear understanding of your role, it’s hard to think outside of the box and try something new. So, now that I’ve gone through each position once, I want to add what I call style. 

Style is something everyone uniquely has and is something that grows over time. So, in the next couple of weeks I want to had some style and creativity to my shows. This could mean different set up shots, live guests, better teases, or whatever may fit the moment (within reason of course :)). This will also require me to gain a better sense of what I like and then figure out how to best implement those elements into the show. By researching different techniques and being more open to the different options out there, I believe I can help my team in giving more variety. That being said, I will pay more attention to other newscasts and pick out what I liked or what I thought worked best. I don’t think we need to reinvent the wheel, just maybe give it a new paint job.
