A Goal is a Dream with a Deadline
One of my goals for the remainder of the semester is to have the entire show done by 5 p.m. when I am the lead producer. I realize that sometimes there are breaking news updates but apart from that I really believe we can have the whole show ready to go at 5.
If we have the whole show ready to go, we can run through it at least one time with the anchors and studio crew to help eliminate unnecessary mistakes. It is important that the anchors are able to read through as much of the show as possible so that they are more prepared and less likely to stumble. It is also important that the studio crew runs through the show so they are aware of all of the videos and graphics. It is also a great chance for us as producers to catch mistakes or make last minute changes to copy, graphics, etc.
I am going to work toward achieving this goal by helping to keep the team organized throughout the day. It is important that we are constantly checking up on MJs to make sure that stories are getting worked on and so we always know who is doing what. We also need to keep the notes in iNEWS updated as much as possible so that stories don’t slip through the cracks when we think someone is working on them. Communication between the producers is vital so we all remain on the same page and can have everything done on time.
Getting the show done by 5 p.m. so that we can have a full run through is definitely my number one goal for the remainder of the semester because it benefits the whole team and makes the show exponentially better.
