Producers

Progression in the Newsroom

With only one more week left I have to admit that I’ve come a long way as a producer. I’ve worked on many of my producer goals and feel confident in all three producer positions. Here’s the breakdown of my goals and where I think I am in terms of accomplishing them.

Web: On the web I wanted to become much faster and be able to produce more stories. This week I was able to produce a lot more in a shorter period of time. I finally grasped the technology and wasn’t hindered trying to ask Bianca a bunch of questions.

Timing: I think last week really showed my ability to get everything done on time. Last week, as lead, I was able to produce a show with many breaking stories. I was quick to get on top of the news of the day and was able to focus and work pretty much the entire day. This week, despite having a little less time than usual because of my morning class, I was still able to get many stories up on the web and keep the graphics artists busy.

Formatting: I’ve become much better at formatting. Yesterday, I made sure to correctly add in all my OTS titles and numbers into the correct places. I’d say that I have become much better at working horizontally to make sure that I complete all parts of the story.

Overall, I feel that I’ve really progressed as a producer and look forward to my last day to prove it.
