Balloon Boy Strikes Again!

TAGS:

By 12:45 p.m. on Thursday afternoon, we were feeling good about our rundown.  Everything was set and we were ahead of schedule.  Then balloon boy struck.  The now-famous six-year-old from Colorado decided to get into his dad's air balloon, or so the media said.  After two hours of everyone in the newsroom seemingly putting their day on pause to watch in horror as we all thought the boy was in serious trouble, we found out it wasn't much of a story at all.  Little boy did something bad, got scared, and went and hid under a box in the attic for hours.  Yes, that's right.  He hid in a box in the attic for hours as the nation prayed for his safety.  Anyways, back to the newsroom.

All of a sudden, we had a new lead story.  Watching this amazing video made us switch up our top story, creating chaos for everything down below.  We struggled to catch as many mistakes as we would have liked to, but in the studio were able to realize most of our errors.  The show actually turned out much better than the panicked feeling most of us had practicing in the studio before the show.  We have had breaking news the past two weeks, so hopefully these more difficult situations that put more pressure on us than we are used to help make us better in the future.
