Going Big For Graphics

TAGS:

Thursday morning class seemed to zoom by as I waited for my chance at graphics teammate.  I had plenty of experience editing video and writing copy through news internships, but never in my life had I done one thing with graphics.  I was scared stiff in the morning just hoping everything would go alright.

Thank goodness Elizabeth McHugh-Sivore, Wednesday's lead producer, decided to take me under her wing and explain to me my duties and how to go about accomplishing them.  Her 20-minute instruction, complete with running through how to correctly write up a graphics order, helped me tremendously as I figured, "Hey, this isn't that hard."  As the day went on, I found my head graphics artist, Asum, was completely on his game because we were short to begin with starting the day.  I just had to fill out the orders with some vague idea of what I wanted and Asum took care of it as simple as that!  He was turning water into wine right in front of my eyes.  When I watched the show later in the day, I was actually really impressed with all of the cool OTS designs we were able to come up with.  I don't know what I would have done without all the help to get me through my first graphics lesson, but now I feel better about all the positions.  I can't wait for next week as video teammate.  Finally, something I know how to do again!
