Producers

Saved!!

TAGS:

I arrived for my first day as a producer at 7:15 a.m. because I couldn’t sleep the night before.  I got up at 5:30 a.m. and watched the news to make sure I got the morning stories in my head for the drive to ATVN.

The day was crazy as I tried to remember how to format a rundown, as our executive producer Kate aided me in the process.  I was going insane as I my mind kept getting blocked out in confusion the longer I stared at the computer screen, but the rundown somehow ended up working out.

Getting into the studio brought my anticipation level to an ultimate high.  I honestly didn’t know if we were going to have a great broadcast or a train wreck.  Thank goodness for me, the latter was avoided.  Our second package, featuring the tsunami and earthquake in the Samoan Islands, was sent from the newsroom to playback just in time.  I was prepared to float 5 stories, all in connection with the tsunami story if the package couldn’t be sent in time, but I was saved by the great effort of our news team!  The newscast went way better than I was ever expecting and it was a HUGE relief.  I was so proud of everyone’s efforts and I can’t wait to get back in there next week and try to make it even better!
