Producers

Here Is What I Know For Sure

TAGS:

Dear Future Producers,

It is completely understandable if you may feel a little intimidated about taking JOUR403. To help prepare you, I have described a few things that will probably happen during your time as a producer for ATVN. This way you will not be caught off guard when these things happen to you.

During your producing shift things may (and probably will) get a little out of control, overwhelming, stressful, chaotic, and discouraging at times. Moments like this commonly result in screaming at people, running around the newsroom, simply giving up, or just answering "I don't know" to every question that comes your way. But don't worry- this will only make you a master at managing chaos, which by the way, is a very useful tool to have in your tool kit.

On the flip side, you will also experience moments of sheer excitement, appreciation, satisfaction, joy, and love. As a producer these moments usually result in developing a deep sense of appreciation for everyone in the Media Center, as well as an overwhelming amount of admiration for Tom and John.

Yes, being a producer can involve a whirlwind of emotion and can leave you feeling incredibly tired at the end of the day. But all I can say is that it is worth every minute. So, no matter what career you plan on pursuing in the news media industry, this is an experience that will definitely help you in the long run.

To put it simply, the best piece of advice I can give you is this: Don't panic and just enjoy the ride.
