Editing is Key

The biggest lesson I've learned as a producer thus far is the importance of copy editing and video editing. At the end of the day when videos are flying in, stories are being written and news is coming over wires, it is crucial to make sure that quality is not sacrificed in the name of quantity.  So, as one of my goals this week, I tried to keep a closer eye on copy editing and video editing. What I came to realize was that the extra two seconds that it takes to check over someone's copy, don't truly prevent me from getting what I need to get done, done. By staying patient and dealing with issues as they arise, I was able to save a lot of stress later on in the day. I can't say it went perfectly - the day still had its challenges - but the effort did create a palpable difference. I'll definitely continue to work on this in the coming weeks.
