Producers

Attention to Detail

TAGS:

Before becoming a producer I had no idea what went into creating a newscast.  Not only does the lead producer have to make sure everything is ready for air but the video and web/graphics teammates are responsible for so much.  This week I was the video teammate and felt that my position included many details.

As video teammate this week I really learned the importance of continuously check to make sure we had the newest video.  Staying on top of the new content made my day go smoothly and assured we had the best video for the newscast.  The most important job as the video teammate is to approve all of the video.  This requires you to make sure the video matches the copy and that everything is framed correctly.

Also, we had multiple stories about Trayvon Martin and it was my responsibility to make sure we did not use the same video shots in multiple stories.  A good amount of the protest video was similar so I had to pay close attention to make sure we did not reuse footage.  Although paying attention to small details can seem tedious when there is so much to do, putting in that extra effort can enhance the newscast.
