Communication is Key
Communication in the newsroom can make or break the newscast. This week I was lead producer and making sure I communicated assignments and changes to my teammates as well as multimedia journalists was what made the newscast possible.
I feel like my teammates and I are in constant communication from the moment we walk in the newsroom until the show. Tatum was video teammate and made sure to let me know what videos she had ordered and who was working on what story. Lexi and I talked about certain stories to make sure the graphic accurately represented the content of the story. I think our team does a great job communicating which makes sure everything is done before showtime.
I also found that communicating with the assignment desk is extremely important. There are so many different people who work on the assignment desk throughout the day that sometimes coordinating an interview can slip through the cracks. Although the assignment desk does log everything into the assign queue, I found it helpful to make my own list of interviews we needed to find. This helped me stay organized and make sure I communicated what we needed to the people working on the assignment desk.
