Live and in Action

TAGS:

It’s amazing how much more a live shot can bring to a broadcast show. Working with the Thursday team this week, we were lucky enough to put a live shot in our show. We had Alexa, our usual weather anchor on Tuesdays, set up a live shot at Conquest, the concert and pep rally for rivalry week. It came out perfectly and she looked great on camera. The lighting was good and the timing was excellent. It truly added a whole new dimension to the show. It made our show extremely timely and I felt like we were one of the big guys, like NBC or KCAL.

I feel like our live shot worked really well because it was on campus and was something our audience cared about. It was also set up at the perfect time because Conquest was barely beginning (and the rain hadn't started to pour yet). Alexa had a good amount of time on camera. In her live shot, Alexa told us the latest news about the event and how students will definitely need to bring their student identification cards to be allowed into the event. She gave the audience important information in a timely matter.

I hope to be able to incorporate live shots in my future shows on the Tuesday team! The only problem is finding a Streambox operator so hopefully we get one in time for Tuesday.
