Bio: Julie is an Emmy Award Winning
Meteorologist and Reporter for KCRA3, MY58 and NBC Weather Plus in Sacramento.
Before Sacramento, Julie pulled triple duty at KGPE-CBS 47 in Fresno, CA. She was the weekend weather anchor, morning traffic anchor, and a feature reporter. Julie was also the voice of news & traffic each morning on the valley’s Clear Channel radio stations.
A graduate of the University of Southern California Julie has a bachelors degree in broadcast journalism and a masters degree in online journalism. At her commencement ceremony, she was named graduate student of the year.
Julie studied broadcast meteorology at Mississippi State University and has earned her Seal of Approval from the American Meteorological Society.

How did ATVN prepare you for your current job?
From technical skills to understanding the newsroom culture, ATVN taught me the basics to get my foot in the door.
What is your advice to aspiring journalists?
This business will become your life. Make sure you love it before you get in too deep… and when you know you love it NEVER GIVE UP!

Writing, Speaking, News Judgment
What is the most important thing a college journalist should know when he or she is trying to negotiate his or her first job?
Remember SHORT CONTRACTS… and know your worth.
What prepared you most for your current job?
Producing for ATVN. It teaches you to understand the flow of news. You strengthen your writing skills and learn to work as part of a newsroom team. The skills you obtain while producing are essential to be successful in any other newsroom position.
