Bio: Kimberly Cheng comes to Palm Springs with a passion for broadcast journalism. You can see her weekdays on the KPSP Local 2 Morning News with reports for 5pm, 5:30pm and 6pm.
It was a lifelong childhood dream realized. Kimberly first got her start with her high school journalism program. For four years, she anchored and executive-produced a weekly show for KLCS and local cable in Los Angeles. Most recently, Kimberly worked in commercial video production for one of the world’s largest automakers.
Kimberly received her educational background from USC where she double-majored in Broadcast Journalism and Political Science.
Her family has been her main motivation for joining the television industry. After escaping the Cambodian genocide, her parents came to the U.S. as refugees searching for a better life. They came at a time when racial tensions in Los Angeles were high. The struggles motivated Kimberly to become a face in the television tapestry. She hopes to inspire young Asian-Americans to do the same.
When not working, Kimberly enjoys anything fitness-related. Hiking, biking, and dancing are among her favorite activities. She frequently travels to her hometown of L.A. to visit her family, including her brother and two sisters. Kimberly also spends time with her two Yorkshire Terriers, Prince and Coco Puff.
