How did ATVN prepare you for your current job?

Everything! from writing, shooting and editing.. learn to edit linear.  Most small markets still use them!

What is your advice to aspiring journalists?

Have tough skin, remember what is important to you, be willing to take risks and work hard.  It is a hard industry, but anyonye can make it if they enjoy what they do.

What are the top three skills college journalism students should be working on in order to be prepared for their first broadcasting job?

Have a little bit of knowledge in everything!.... writing, editing and research skills are essential. 

What is the most important thing a college journalist should know when he or she is trying to negotiate his or her first job?

Have an out clause.. you’ll be glad you have one

What prepared you most for your current job?

Learning to work fast, efficient and not being afraid to ask questions.
