Hundreds of students at California State University, Long Beach took part in the “National Day of Action to Defend Education” this afternoon, protesting the billions of dollars the governor and Legislature could cut from public schools.
CSULB student government president Christopher Chavez talks to ATVN's Lysee Mitri about today's protest.
Students began marching at noon today from the south side of campus to Brotman Hall, the administration building.
The march ended with students rallying together, holding up signs and chanting things like,"They say cutbacks, we say fight back.”
A group called Students for Quality Education organized today’s protest. Many students say this is just the beginning.
CSULB graduate student Alex Montances tells ATVN’s Lysee Mitri why he thinks the protest is so important.
CSULB student government president Christopher Chavez said, in addition to organizing more events on campus to encourage students to make their voice heard, the student government plans to go to Sacramento to lobby for the protection of higher education.
