Long Beach mayor Bob Foster appeared with professional cyclist Tony Cruz at Miller Children’s Hospital this morning to celebrate the 2010 Long Beach Bike Festival.

They invited community members to sign up for the “Tour of Long Beach,” a 33-mile bike ride through the city’s bicycle paths that will take place in May. The Tour will raise funds for Miller Children’s Hospital.

At the kick-off announcement this morning, Foster and Cruz faced tough competition as they raced young patients in a tricycle ride around the hospital’s circular driveway.

The Tour of Long Beach will be held on May 8, 2010.
