Alex Goldsmith is a sophomore majoring in broadcast journalism, working his third semester at ATVN. This is his first semester in an on-air position, although he has been ATVN’s go-to, last-second tape editor/runner for the past two semesters. He was also ATVN’s loudest associate director last semester. He was volunteered in the sports department throughout his time at ATVN, doing a little bit of everything.
Since joining USC, Alex has broadcast USC Ice Hockey games with ATVN legend Dave Telly/Foley. He has no on-air television experience except for occasional appearances on student discussion show Platforum, but has been on radio regularly since he was 15. Most of Alex’s experience in broadcasting comes from hockey.
He has interned for ESPN, 610 AM KNML in Albuquerque, and 770 KKOB in Albuquerque.
Alex currently rides a scooter, though is strongly considering growing up.
Alex was born in Mount Kisco, NY; moved to Windermere, FL; (near Orlando) and then spent half his life in Santa Fe, NM. He has had a lifelong love of sports, playing lacrosse throughout high school on a three-time state championship team (only team in the state) and ultimate frisbee. Alex is somewhat injury prone. He has broken 3 collarbones in his lifetime. Alex doesn’t think you really needed to know that, but told you anyway. Alex is excited about this upcoming semester, hoping to parlay his experience at ATVN into a career in news or sports broadcasting.
