Kirstin Benson is a senior double-majoring in Communication and Theater. She is excited to return to ATVN as Wednesday’s weather anchor and to begin reporting on Mondays. Besides anchoring the weather, Kirstin has worked behind the scenes as camera operator, writer/shooter/editor, and beginning this semester, audio operator. For three years Kirstin served as an anchor for the Trojanvision show Platforum. Additionally, Kirstin serves as a Annenberg Ambassador for the School for Communication and she completed the Emerging Leaders Program, graduating in the Spring 05’.
Born in Orange County, CA, but raised in Montana, Kirstin started acting professionally in theatre at the age of eight. She began her broadcasting career in high school as the anchor/editor/producer for her school’s daily morning newscast. Interested in hosting since she was a little girl, Kirstin watches nearly every talk show host religiously and idolizes Ellen Degeneres.
Kirstin’s summers have been spent on stage. For the past two years she has been the Artistic Director as well as a performer for the Glacier Cabaret Musical Revue, located in Glacier National Park. Before that, she spent her summers acting on stage in summer stock theatre. Kirstin’s other passions include USC Trojan football (fight on!) and tap dancing.
After graduation, Kirstin plans to pursue a career as a news anchor or a talk show host.
