Kyle is a senior majoring in Broadcast Journalism and minoring in Spanish. He’s thrilled to return to the Monday news team for his third semester in a row as one of your evening news anchors! This semester he will also produce for Wednesday’s newscast. In the past he has worked as a reporter, writer/shooter/editor/ and graphics designer. His work at ATVN has been nominated for the Hearst Journalism Awards.
Two summers ago Kyle interned in Universal City with the CNBC Los Angeles Bureau and last summer he headed down to sunny San Diego to intern with KNSD (NBC) 7/39. While in San Diego, Kyle provided support both in the newsroom and in the field, where he often found himself scrambling down flaming hillsides chasing wildfires or making a run for the Mexican border covering immigration stories. He also used his Spanish skills to work with the news team of Mi San Diego 43, KNSD’s Spanish-language sister station. Kyle is presently interning with the KCBS/KCAL Sports Department, where he has interviewed notable sports figures such as USC Head Football Coach Pete Carroll and U.S. Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps.
While not in the newsroom, Kyle works as the Public Relations chair of Delta Tau Delta, his fraternity. He enjoys hanging out with friends, playing the saxophone and piano (and attempting to play guitar), outrigger canoing, and reading. When he can, he likes to go home to beautiful San Juan Capistrano in Orange County, CA, to visit his family, friends, and to get some delicious homemade Italian food!
Kyle hopes to one day report or anchor on a network level (look out Brian Williams). Although he’s loving his last semester at USC, Kyle is excited to graduate and can’t wait to start working as a professional journalist!
