Monica Alba is a junior majoring in Broadcast Journalism, with minors in International Relations and Cinematic Arts. She’s from San Jose, California, where she and her younger sister are currently organizing and running a film festival for high school students in the Bay Area that focuses on social issue documentaries ( www.sidocfest.com). Monica has worked at ATVN since her freshman year in several capacities, ranging from floor manager to graphics to writer/shooter/editor and is thrilled to be joining the Wednesday news team.
Over the past few semesters and summers, she has interned with City Projects, the documentary production company within the Annenberg Institute for Justice and Journalism, as well as with Telemundo KSTS48 in San Jose.
She plans to pursue documentary filmmaking with an emphasis in social issues, and also has an interest in investigative reporting. She loves primates (in fact, one of her favorite ATVN experiences thus far was covering the new gorilla exhibit at the Los Angeles Zoo), the comedic stylings of Jon Stewart and the show “30 Rock.”
