Sherene is a sophomore majoring in Broadcast Journalism and International Relations and minoring in Spanish. She’s so excited to be back at ATVN this semester as your Monday weather anchor! Sherene will also shadow the technical director on Tuesdays and serve as the assistant director on Wednesdays.
Since working the assignment desk at ATVN her freshman year, Sherene has worked in the newsroom as a volunteer reporter and writer/shooter/editor as well as the teleprompter operator in the studio. Last summer, Sherene interned at Good Morning America in Los Angeles.
Sherene considers herself lucky to have discovered her love for journalism early in life. She wrote for her high school newspaper, The Current, for three years, also serving as the paper’s news editor and editor-in-chief. Sherene won a national newswriting award for her reporting on students with special needs.
Sherene is also a member of USC Helenes, a women’s service organization also known as “the official hostesses of USC.” Last year, Sherene produced and anchored another Trojan Vision show, Platforum. She has also been a member of the USC Marathon Team.
Outside the newsroom, Sherene enjoys spending time with friends and family, going to the beach, being outside in general, running, reading, and cooking.
Sherene would eventually like to report or anchor on the network level. She is also very interested in foreign correspondence because it would allow her to concurrently pursue her passions for journalism, travel, and language. Sherene can speak, read, and write Spanish and Farsi.
