BOY, WAS I WRONG?!?!

By Jeff Platt

The Super Bowl has come and gone, and if you haven’t read my first blog post of the semester—please don’t!!!  I ask you not to because in it I went on and on and on about how this year’s Super Bowl was very uneventful in my eyes, and about how the Pats would go on to destroy the Giants.

Yea…that was way off.  This was the best and most entertaining Super Bowl in recent memory.  I make an annual Super Bowl bet every year (not that I would encourage gambling in any way), and to show you how little I cared about the big game…I bet on the coin toss!!! (I lost…I know—that’s pathetic and a waste of money, thank you) Anyways, hats off to the Giants.  This championship was incredibly well-deserved.  They were the underdog every, single week of the playoffs and they pulled it out.  And I loveddddd seeing Bill Belichick lose, and then walk off the field before the game was over (what a class act).

Well now that football is over, the focus on campus will switch to basketball, where the men’s team has caught fire in recent weeks, winning 6 of their last 7 games.  ‘SC goes into Saturday’s matchup against #17-ranked WSU coming off a big 73-59 win at UW.  USC went on a 19-0 run in the second half!!!  OJ Mayo went for 29, and he’s really done a good job of setting things up for his teammates in the first half of games, while then capitalizing on his more available opportunities in the second half.

It’s very important for USC to maintain momentum…because after WSU, UCLA comes to the Galen Center, and you know they’ll be looking for revenge after the upset over in Westwood.

Thx for reading
-Jeff
