POLICE COMMISSION MEETING

LAPD to work closely with DPS for public safety

TAGS:

The police commission held an open meeting tonight at the USC Galen Center to address crime in the University Park Area.

In light of the hit-and-run tragedy that killed freshman Adrianna Bachan, both the Los Angeles Police Department and the USC Department of Public Safety will step up efforts to fight crime in the neighborhood.

"USC is a city within a city," LAPD Deputy Chief Kirk Anderson said.

Homicide has decreased in the area by 27 percent, according to the LAPD. In just this past year alone, LAPD and DPS have made 206 arrests and given more than 1,300 citations.

But the recent deadly hit-and-run accident took center stage.

LAPD Police Chief William Bratton said the LAPD is still looking for the second suspect in the case.
