SUSPECT ARRESTED LATEST
LAPD has released the name of the suspect in last weekend’s tragic hit-and-run accident at the intersection of Jefferson and Hoover.
Police say Claudia Cabrera was driving a green 2000 Infinity four door sedan. The car is still at large but police tips suggest that the windshield, which was broken during the accident, has been replaced. The license plate is 4DUG665.
The third passenger in the car was a seven month old boy, according to police.
LAPD is still looking for Cabrera’s husband, Josue Luna, and believe he was the passenger in the car when it struck two USC students early Sunday morning. The accident killed freshman Adrianna Bachan and left freshman Marcus Garfinkle in critical condition. After hitting the students, the car drove 300-400ft before the passenger pulled Garfinkle off of the hood and tossed him on the ground.
ATVN’s Julia Wong spoke with Bachan’s mother, Garfinkle’s mother and Bachan’s suitemate about the LAPD’s announcement.
The arrest comes after a total of $235,000 in rewards were offered for information in the case. Police said a tip led to Cabrera’s arrest.
Marcus Garfinkle’s mother said she was “elated” that detectives were able to bring people to justice.
