Playboy Campus Auditions at USC
Inside a quiet corner room of a hotel in Westwood, Rachel Swimmer and Caitlin O’Connor posed for a Playboy photographer.
The two ladies are clothed now, but just moments earlier, they were jumping naked on the room’s queen bed while pictures were taken.
“Playboy will be my first and only nude photo shoot,” said O’Connor, a sophomore English major at UCLA. “It’s truly a dream of mine, I’ve had it since I was a teenager.”
Playboy was holding auditions for UCLA students for their upcoming “Girls of the Pac-10” feature. This Thursday and Friday, April 8-9, the men’s entertainment magazine will be at a hotel near USC as it holds its USC auditions.
Around 25 girls are expected to show up in the two days UCLA is holding auditions, said Eden Orfanos, a Playboy representative. USC on Tuesday before the auditions had ten girls signed up, which is “slow,” according to Orfanos. “In Arizona, there’s already 60 girls signed up, in Washington, there’s about 40 girls signed up,” she said.
This isn’t the first time O’Connor has done some modeling. She also models for UCLA’s “bearwear” catalog, a magazine promoting university merchandise.
“I think doing Playboy would be kind of poignant, because I’m clothed in the UCLA catalog and I’m naked for UCLA for Playboy,” O’Connor said as naked pictures of her danced in a slideshow on a laptop in the corner.
Some female students at USC are ambivalent at the idea of Playboy coming to campus to recruit women.
“I think it’s hilarious, but I think it’s a good place to do it,” said Felicia, a sophomore at USC majoring in bio chemistry.
But Yang would never consider posing for the magazine, “Because I need to uphold my reputation,” she said. “I want to be a physician, so it’s probably not the best idea.”
USC senior Alexis wouldn’t pose for the magazine either.
“It’s not me, I don’t feel comfortable doing it,” said the communications student.
