USC vs. Washington State Volleyball Recap
The No. 8 USC women’s volleyball team took on Washington State this Friday at the Galen Center and came out with what seemed to be a truly dominating victory.
In front of a crowd of more than 800 people, the Women of Troy beat the Cougars in three sets, 24-14, 25-16, and 25-15.
USC dominated the first two sets by executing quick defense and offense. The Cougars’ consistent mistakes and miscues allowed USC to maintain strong leads and go into the half up 2-0.
Once the half was over, the Cougars got out to a quick lead in the third set with three quick kills. The two teams battled it out, recording three ties in the set. But once USC gained the lead, the Cougars were unable to regain it, eventually losing the final set by 10 points and giving the Women of Troy the victory.
Outside hitter Alex Jupiter had 12 kills in the match, while outside hitter/opposite Katie Fuller contributed another eight.
With this victory USC’s record moved to 18-3.
The Women of Troy can bask in this win tonight, but not for too long, as they face the No. 7 Washington Huskies, one of only three teams to hand USC a loss this season, on Saturday at 3 p.m.
