USC's Shoah Foundation partnered with Comcast to make Holocaust documentaries available for Comcast On-demand viewers

USC’s Shoah Foundation Institute joined with Comcast to commemorate Holocaust Remembrance Day by making ten award-winning documentary films about the Holocaust available to Comcast On-demand viewers on Monday.

The films will be available for free through May 25th to all Comcast customers and through the X-Finity T.V. Ipad Application. The Shoah Foundation Institute said its mission for this partnership was to educate about prejudice and intolerance in the world through the stories of Holocaust survivors.

According Executive Director Stephen Smith of the Shoah Foundation Institute, the partnership with Comcast came about when the foundation began talking to senior executives at Comcast to make arrangements for web coverage of an award that was handed out at the Shoah Foundation’s Annual Gala.

“They did an amazing job of posting the testimonies from the Shoah Foundation Institute and some of the movies we’ve made on the Comcast sites,” Smith said.

Smith said there is a tremendous value to partnering with Comcast to do this.

“The Comcast cable network reaches up to 23 million people,” Smith said. “There are many survivor testimonies here in the archive at USC which have never been seen by the public before. So, for the first time, they’re going to be available through public cable. That’s really interesting for the public.”

Smith said he hoped the young people on-campus who hear these testimonies will think about how this affects today’s society and their conscious.
