Falyn Fonoimoana Ruled Ineligible For Season

The outside hitter was named Pac-10 Freshman of the Year last year in her first season with the USC women’s volleyball team.

When the No. 2 Women of Troy open the season Aug. 26 against No. 12 Minnesota, there will be one large presence missing on the court.

Head coach Mick Haley announced today that sophomore Falyn Fonoimoana has been declared ineligible for the 2011 season.

“We exhausted all of our resources in order to help Falyn retain her eligibility, “ said Haley.  “We have very high expectations of our student-athletes, on and off the court, here at USC.”

Last season when USC made its run to the Final Four, Fonoimoana started 21 of 34 matches and ranked second on the team in points and kills.

You may have been her PE teacher but the posting is accurate. She was suspended not because of poor academic but because of breaking USC and NACC rules. She took a car to school which is against USC rules and she took her scholarship money that was supposed to pay rent and lived at home and pocketed the money. That's fraud. NCAA nailed her for it. But the comment above is true. She is completely full of herself which is why players on the teams that have played with her didn't play with her.

When you are a freshman student/athlete at SC it is mandatory that you live in the dorms. Maybe this is also a NCAA rule.
You are not given a stipend . . . only money applied to your card for food on campus.
She might not have lived in the dorms but there was no money for her to pocket, hence no fraud.
