Parents of Boy With Autism Lose Custody Bid [UPDATED]

Parents of the 8-year-old boy with severe autism lost a custody battle Thursday.

[Updated | Sept. 15, 3:00 p.m. PDT: Parents of the 8-year-old boy with severe autism who went missing earlier this week lost custody Thursday morning in court.]

Trish Calcott and Ron Robb lost their bid Thursday morning to try and regain custody of their son.

The court ruled Thursday that the couple would be able to visit their son every Monday and will be granted an emergency visit this Friday. The parents are unemployed.

The couple lost custody last month when social workers heard they tied their son to a railing outside their home. The family's home was

Calcott and Robb are scheduled to return to court on Sept. 26.

Authorites safely found Joshua on Tuesday. He ran away from his elementary school into the San Bernadino National Forest Monday morning and rescue teams from five counties searched for him.

Tuesday afternoon, the San Bernadino Mountian Search and Rescue Team located a shirt that was confirmed to belong to Joshua, according to San Bernadino County Sheriff's Department Spokesperson Jodi Miller. They found fresh shoe prints and tracked the shoe prints for 1.5 miles until Joshua came out of a bush, Miller said. The rescue team gave him water and food before they carried him to a clearing and he was air lifted to Loma Linda Medical Center.

Trish and Ronny Robb addressed the media Tuesday afternoon, thanking rescuers and all those involved in the rescue of their son.

Ronny Robb said that Joshua does not speak often, but after Tuesday's rescue his son said, "Thank you for rescuing me."

Joshua, who has severe autism, was on the playground at Grandview Elementary School in Twin Peaks when he suddenly ran out of the gate Monday morning.  Staff members chased him but could not catch up to him before he ran into the forest surrounding the school.

Joshua was wearing a polo shirt, shorts and sandals and he had no food or water, said San Bernardino County Sheriff spokesperson Cindy Bachman.

Bachman said Joshua had run off before but has never been lost in the woods.
