Cal State Rejects Tuition Increase
Trustees of the California State University system announced Wednesday they will not seek another tuition increase during the current academic year although the Cal State system may face an additional $100-million in budget cuts.
Higher Education advocates agree that this move would help students and parents manage education costs and provide stability for those that have been facing annual tuition fees for years.
"With every fee increase less and less young people are going to university, that means that the ratio of undeducated people is going to grow," Faisal Salah, a junior at Cal State Long Beach said. "The cost of ignorance is a price everyone is going to have to pay. It would be a huge detriment to society in the long run."
This fall the Cal State system increased its tuition $5,472, which was 22% more than the previous year.
