Expo Line Enters Final Stage

Los Angeles city and county officials met in Santa Monica to christen the second and final stage of the light rail project which began in 2006.
Construction of the first phase of the Expo Line, which covers the 8.6 miles between downtown L.A. and Culver City, lasted longer and cost $300 million more than initially projected.
The first part of the line was finished earlier this year, and is currently undergoing operational tests.
Phase two has a budget of $1.5 billion and will extend the line the final 6.6 miles to reach downtown Santa Monica.
The Expo Line will be fully operational in 2015, Expo officials say.
