LAFD Will Not Take Disciplinary Action in Response to Porn Scandal [Update]

[Updated | Oct. 5, 5:40 p.m. PDT: The Los Angeles Fire Department announced Wednesday that disciplinary action will not be taken against the firefighters involved in an investigation sparked by the appearance of an LAFD firetruck in pornography videos.

Chief Brian Cummings said a loophole in the City Charter prevents the LAFD from disciplining any employee for actions that are more than two years old. The films were created on or before 2008.]

The videos in questions show the firetrucks in Venice Beach and Hollywood.

One of those questions asked by Captain Dina Haro, an LAFD Public Information Officer was, "How were those responsible able to gain access to the department's apparatus?"

One of the biggest concerns for the department was whether or not LAFD firefighters were involved in the videos themselves. A report by NBC4 News said that the firefighters were involved in the set-up and actually appeared in the videos. This was not confirmed by the LAFD.

"Our fire chief is adamant about getting to the bottom of this," Haro said. "He has zero-tolerance for this kind of behavior."

The LAFD said they had known about the alleged scandal since the beginning of the year, and had been working hard to uncover the truth in this serious investigation.

Haro said when more information becomes available, the LAFD plans to be transparent to the public with any new developments on the investigation.
