Candy Sales To Set New Record

A study predicts more than $2.2 billion in candy sales.

According to the LA Times, Americans will spend a total of $2.273 billion on candy for Halloween this year--a new record. The study comes from the National Confectioners Association.

Also included in the article are some fun Halloween facts from Candy USA. According to their site, more than 93% of kids go trick-or-treating every year, and 90 percent of adults admit they sneak candy from their kids' candy bags.

As far as the candy given out on Halloween, chocolate is the most popular among kids and adults. Most adults who hand out Halloween candy, 52 percent, give out some form of chocolate, and 68 percent of kids say they prefer homes that give anything made with chocolate.

Chocolate isn't the only candy being swapped this year. More than 35 million pounds of candy corn will be produced this Halloween season, enough to circle the moon more than 20 times.
