McDonald's Healthy and Free Halloween Treat

McDonald's will offer free apple slices to children on Halloween to promote healthy eating.

On Halloween, McDonald's will give away free apple slices to children 11 and younger across most of Southern California, the fast food chain announced Wednesday.

"We are excited to offer this nutritious treat for children this Halloween season," said Michael Mangione Jr., who owns and runs the McDonald's Operators' Association of Southern California. "The Halloween apple slice giveaway is another example of our commitment to children's well-being and part of our broader effort to educate children and their parents on the benefits of fruits and vegetables."

Back in September, McDonald's revealed the new Happy Meal in California, which includes apple slices and down-sized fries.

According to the McDonald's regional operator, the one-day Halloween deal will be offered from 4 to 7 p.m. in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernadino and Ventura counties.
