Nurse Testifies in Conrad Murray Trial
Cherilyn Lee, a nurse practitioner, testified that two months before Michael Jackson died, he asked her to get him propofol, the powerful anesthetic that caused his fatal overdose. Lee told jurors Tuesday that she spoke to a doctor before warning Jackson that it could kill him.
Lee treated Jackson for nutrition and energy issues while he prepared for his "This Is It" comeback concert tour.
Murray's attorneys will try to reverse the damaging testimonies of the witnesses who have cast Murray as incompetent, negligent and unethical. The defense called in their first two witnesses on Monday.
Prosecutors concluded their case against Michael Jackson's personal physician Monday after questioning 33 witnesses over four weeks.
The final prosecution witness, Dr. Steven Shafer, testified that Murray is solely responsible for Jackson's death. Shafer cited 17 medical violations that each could have either killed or seriously injured Jackson.
Murray's team plans to call on a total of 15 witnesses who they believe will prove that Jackson was desperate.
Jackson died at age 50 in June 2009 under the care of Conrad Murray in Jackson's Los Angeles home. Jackson suffered from sleep issues, and before his death he was reportedly administered propofol, as well as two other anti-anxiety medications.
Murray has plead not guilty to involuntary manslaughter.
