Penn State Students Gather for Town Hall Meeting
Students at Penn State will have the opportunity to ask questions, vent, and make their voices heard at a Town Hall style meeting hosted by the university Wednesday night.
The meeting is open to the community, but closed off to the media. Only certain members of the media are being allowed in to answer students' questions about the coverage of former assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky's sex abuse allegations.
According to Penn State student Toni Lozzi, students wish to express their concerns over the way that the media's handling of the sex scandal has affected the perception of the university as a whole, and the football team. It is also a conflict of interest for students like Lozzi, who are studying journalism.
Trying to define her role as a Penn State student and a journalist amidst the scandal has been difficult, said Lozzi.
Lozzi plans to pick up a ticket and attend the meeting to gain insight as to how to cover such a sensitive issue.
Feelings and emotions among the student body have calmed down, and now students are truly ready to put their concerns to rest, according to Lozzi.
