Trojan's Lee, Bailey Pac-12 Offensive, Defensive Freshmen of Year

Woods, Kalil, Perry, McDonald, Robey, Heidari and Ellison earn first team all-conference honors. Barkley, Lee, Holmes, Bailey and Horton second-team.

True freshman wide receiver Marqise Lee and redshirt freshman linebacker Dion Bailey have been named the Pac-12 offensive and defensive freshman of the year, the conference announced today.

Lee shares the title with Oregon running back (and former USC commit) De'Anthony Thomas. Lee also garnered a second-team all Pac-12 selection at wideout. The true freshman made a big statement as a compliment to sophomore standout Robert Woods, finishing the season with 224 receiving receiving yards against UCLA last Saturday. Lee finished the year with 73 receptions for 1,143 yards and 11 touchdowns, as well as a kickoff return TD.

Bailey tied for USC's team lead in tackles with 81, alongside fellow redshirt freshman linebacker Hayes Pullard. He started every game for the Trojans at strongside linebacker and recorded two sacks, two interceptions and one forced fumble on the season.

Ten other Trojans were honored by the conference. Wide receiver Robert Woods, junior offensive tackled Matt Kalil, defensive end Nick Perry, cornerback Nickell Robey, safety T.J. McDonald and kicker Andrei Heidari were all selected for the all-conference first team at their respective positions. And senior Rhett Ellison was selected as the all-conference special teams representative.

Quarterback Matt Barkley, center Khaled Holmes, defensive lineman Wes Horton, Lee and Bailey were selected to the all-conference second team.

USC coach Lane Kiffin did not win Pac-12 coach of the year, as many felt he should. That title instead went to Stanford's David Shaw.

The Pac-12's yearly awards are voted on by the conferences 12 coaches.
