Foreign Ambassadors Visit L.A., USC
Nearly 50 ambassadors representing countries from five different continents will visit Los Angeles beginning Tuesday in an effort to introduce foreign diplomats to the culture of the United States.
Led by U.S. Chief of Protocol Caprica Penavic Marshall, the group will embark on an "Experience America" tour that details the history, economy and residents of Los Angeles.
According to the State Department, the tour will kick off with a dinner tonight at the Getty Museum, co-hosted by Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa. Members of the group will then attend a breakfast Wednesday morning hosted by the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce, followed by a tour of the Port of Los Angeles and a visit to Inner-City Arts.
Thursday's agenda includes a meeting with entertainment industry officials and visiting several television and movie studios such as Warner Bros., Paramount and Universal Studios.
On Friday, the diplomats will arrive at USC's Stevens Institute for Innovation.
The visit to L.A. ends Friday and is the ninth "Experience America" trip, according to the State Department. The ambassadors have previously visited New York, Chicago, Atlanta, New Orleans and cities in California, Texas, Florida and Alaska.
