His lawyers say there's no evidence that could link him to the death of his wife.

[UPDATE | 8:27 a.m., Feb. 16: According to his attorney, former "Survivor" producer Bruce Beresford-Redman fainted when a Mexican judge ruled that he must stand trial for the death of his wife.

Beresford-Redmen's wife was killed at a resort in Cancun in 2010.

Quintana Roo State Prosecuter Ludwin Vivas Arjona has stated that the judge believes enough evidence exists to try him, although Beresford-Redman's attorneys would beg to differ.

One of them, Jaime Cancino, is planning to appeal this decision, stating the evidence the prosecution has presented is tainted.

If he is convicted, he could face up to 30 years in prison. The defense has stated that they were prevented from cross-examining certain witnesses.  They also stated that Beresford-Rednman unwillingly made false statements during police interviews.

Monica Beresford-Redman's body was discovered in a sewer cistern at a resort during a family vacation. They went there in order to try and save their marriage after she had allegedly discovered that her husband was cheating on her. Their children were also with them.

Some of the evidence that is being used against him includes statements from guests, stating that loud arguing was heard from the couple's room the night before she went missing.

The lawyers representing Beresford-Redman state that the noises were from him and his children playing games throughout the evening and that there is no forensic evidence linking him to the killing of his wife.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
