The birthday party was started with a flash mob performed by Flash Mob America. As an added present to the city, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce partnered with L'Oreal Paris to make a special edition "Hollywood Red Carpet no.125" lipstick.

It was a star-studded event. Late-night talk show host and comedian Jimmy Kimmel helped blow out the candles on Hollywood's birthday cake, which was made by "Ace of Cakes" celebrity chef Duff Goldman.

"Happy Birthday to Hollywood. To everyone who lives in Hollywood," said Kimmel. "And 125 years, it's time for a boob job."

Joining Kimmel and Goldman were Hollywood Chamber of Commerce President Leron Gubler, Chairman of the board Marty Shelton and Councilman Tom Labonge.

"My favorite movie is 'The Wizard of Oz,'" said Labonge. "And what is the greatest line in that movie from Dorthy? 'There's no place like home.' And there is no place like home and there's no place like Hollywood. Let's hear it for Hollywood, California, USA!"

The birthday celebration continued Wednesday at a network mixer in the courtyard of Hollywood and Highland for the Hollywood community and chamber members. Attending the event were HGTV celebrity designers Vern Yip and Genevieve Gorder.

"Hollywood is a lot more than a town," said Goldman. "It's a lot more than a collection of streets. Hollywood is an idea. It's like a beacon of hope."
