New Bicycle Transit Plan for Los Angeles Approved

The plan will promote cycling by increasing bikepaths.

An update to a bicycle transit plan was approved Tuesday by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors in a 4-0 vote.

$330 million will be spent over 20 years to build 832 miles of new bikeways, build support facilities, and create educational programs that promote cycling.

The updated plan will promote cycling as another transportation option to “alleviate traffic congestion, improve air quality and enhance the health and quality of life in [Los Angeles] communities,” according to Supervisor Don Knabe.

Funding for the plan will come from the Department of Public Works.
